Apex Laboratory - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We are currently working on the FAQ section of this page.  It will be updated shortly.

  Are Home Phlebotomy visits a "Covered" Service by Medicare?
  Both the travel allowance and phlebotomy charge is a permissible and covered service by "traditional" Medicare incurring no expense to the recipient, when an authorized health care provider determines that leaving the residence would create an unusual hardship. In other words the visit must be medically necessary. Home Phlebotomy is still available for those who are able to have blood drawn elsewhere but prefer the convenience of this service, at a nominal charge.

  Can I receive MY test results?
  Unless a written authorization is received at the lab by the ordering physician results are not permitted to be given to patients.

  When will my results be available to my doctor?

Results of most tests are typically available the same day of the specimen draw, in the late afternoon or early evening.  Results are conveyed to your doctor in a method chosen by them.  The various methods Apex uses to dispense test results are;

  • Verbal communication
  • Fax communication.
  • Apex Scheduler Application (Doctor and Agency login to order tests and get results)
  • Apex Multiweb (Doctor and Agency login to get results)
  • HL7 File (Standard Medical Record File available on our Secure FTP Server)
